The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation, Roman Vilfand, on Thursday, December 24, warned of new climatic tests in Moscow on the night of December 25.
According to the specialist, more than 10 cm of precipitation will fall in the capital on Friday. Wilfand called the weather expected in the region at the end of this week “completely non-standard.”
So, on December 25, the temperature is expected to rise to 0 degrees, snow will pass, heavy in places. In the Moscow region, snow is predicted, in places wet snow, snow drifts and ice. More than 10 cm of precipitation is expected for Friday and Saturday.
“This is a lot for Moscow, snow collapse is expected! Both ice and blizzard are not excluded. There will be real winter weather with snow, with the ability to mold a snow woman and carry children on sleds, ”Wilfand emphasized on the NSN broadcast.
At the beginning of next week, frosts of up to -10 …- 15 degrees at night are expected in the region, but by the New Year they should recede: the temperature will rise by December 30.
Earlier on December 24, a leading employee of the Phobos weather center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, also warned that January frosts of up to -15 degrees in Moscow and up to -17 degrees in the region would come to Moscow early next week, and the night of Monday, December 28, would become the coldest since the beginning of winter, writes the site kp.ru.
Also on December 24, the Ministry of Transport near Moscow urged motorists to abandon travel by private vehicles and change to public ones due to worsening weather conditions in connection with the North Atlantic cyclone “Greta” on the night of Saturday, December 26. According to experts, 20-25 mm of precipitation will fall, the formation of snowdrifts up to 25 cm is possible. A deterioration in visibility on the roads is predicted.
