The United States and China, in a joint statement on combating climate change, expressed their readiness to work towards the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

The State Department reported that the document was agreed upon following a meeting in Shanghai between US President’s Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry and his Chinese counterpart Xie Zhenhua.

“The United States and China are firmly committed to working together and cooperating with other parties to implement the Paris Agreement,” the document says.

It is noted that Washington and Beijing intend to develop their own strategies to achieve zero emissions into the environment by the 26th conference of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in November.
