The British Navy will conduct joint naval training with the Ukrainian Navy in the Black Sea, according to the British government website on August 18.

It is noted that this decision was made following negotiations between the heads of the defense ministries of the two countries, Ben Wallace and Andrei Taran, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ruslan Khomchak.

According to Wallace, this step will strengthen the relations between the two countries in the field of defense, as well as allow the Ukrainian side to protect its territorial integrity.

“The Maritime Training Initiative will allow us to further cooperate with NATO and the armed forces around the world and will allow us to strengthen Ukraine’s new status as a NATO partner with expanded capabilities,” it was reported.

The exact date of the joint exercise has not been specified.

In January it became known that Ukraine and NATO agreed to hold joint exercises in Odessa to ensure security in the Black Sea region.

Exercise “Unbreakable Resilience – 2020” will be held from 5 to 9 October. It is noted that the participants from Ukraine and NATO member states will work out an algorithm of actions in crisis situations that may arise in the Black Sea region.
