WASHINGTON | US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would call for a “doping test” before debating with Joe Biden, citing his suspicions about his Democratic opponent.
Without providing the slightest tangible element, the tenant of the White House assured, in an interview with the Washington Examiner, to have been intrigued by the improvement of the services of Joe Biden during the Democratic primaries.
“We will demand a doping test,” he said, surprised at the performance of the former vice-president in the last debate against Bernie Sanders in March.
Does he have concrete elements to support his claims? “All I can tell you is that I’m good at seeing this kind of stuff,” the president replied.
“I watched him during the debates with all these people (the other candidates for the Democratic nomination, Editor’s note). He was incompetent and, against Bernie, he was normal. How can this be explained? ”
In the fall of 2016, in the middle of the campaign, the Republican billionaire had already made similar comments, citing the hypothesis that his then-Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, had resorted to drugs.
“I think we should get tested for drug use before the debate,” he said at a rally in New Hampshire.
“I don’t know what’s going on with her. At the start of her last debate, she was all recovered and at the end, she could barely reach her car, ”he added mockingly.
The first debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden is scheduled for September 29. The next two will take place on October 15 and 22.
