In Egypt, the authorities decided to ban the movement of foreign tourists around the country. This was reported on Friday, August 7, in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

The Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers has sent out a warning to travel companies and hotels to ban excursions and other travel by land, sea or air outside the tourist provinces, RT reports.

Sources of Vestnik ATOR among Egyptian DMC host companies suggest that the tightening of travel conditions for tourists may be associated with an outbreak of coronavirus infection, which probably occurred in Cairo.

The day before, it was reported that Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli signed a decree, according to which those arriving in the country from August 6 must have a certificate of the absence of coronavirus, writes REGNUM. These measures will not affect Arab and foreign tourists arriving directly to the resort cities of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Taba, Marsa Alam and Mersa Matruh.

On July 1, Egypt resumed international flights and opened resort areas for foreign tourists, subject to a number of sanitary rules.

According to the statistics portal Worldometer, on August 6, 95 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Egypt, 4.95 thousand people died.
