Ex-presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya on September 11 in an interview with tut.by said that she did not rule out the election of a new Presidium of the Coordinating Council (CC) of the opposition.
Answering the question how the Constitutional Court will be represented in the country, if only Svetlana Aleksievich of all the members of the presidium remained at large and in the republic, Tikhanovskaya noted that no one is applying to leave the council.
“We are discussing how we will work further. Perhaps a new presidium will be elected, ”said Tikhanovskaya.
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9. According to the Central Election Commission, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, won. Those who disagreed with this result began to take to the streets. They clashed with law enforcement officers, as a result, there were injuries on both sides, several civilians were killed.
The creation of the opposition Constitutional Court to transfer power in Belarus was initiated by the former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. Later she left for Lithuania.
Belarusian law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case on the establishment of the council. According to Lukashenko, the creation of alternative government bodies in the country is unacceptable and will be punished according to the law.
