Three sailors who died in a fire on the Sveaborg fishing trawler on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria are Ukrainian by nationality, the Civil Guard press service reported on Saturday, December 26.

It is noted that the four injured Russian sailors previously taken to the hospital have already been discharged, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier on Saturday, the Russian Embassy in Madrid reported that there were no Russian citizens among the dead on the ship.

The death of three people became known earlier that day. It was also reported that four more people were injured in the fire.

It is known that the source of the ignition was in the engine room of the vessel; the trawler was under repair in a port on the Canary Islands.
