RT TV channel published a video filmed during a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on September 7.
Following the talks, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the hotbeds of terrorists remaining in the Syrian Arab Republic would be completely eliminated. The parties stated that the situation “on the ground” in the republic has stabilized.
Lavrov arrived in Damascus on Monday. This is his first visit to Syria since February 2012.
On June 21, Washington imposed sanctions against 39 individuals and entities in Syria under the so-called Caesar Act. Assad, his wife Asma, sister Bushra and younger brother Maher fell under his influence. The measures will affect everyone who cooperates with them, including Russian and Iranian structures that work in the SAR.
