According to state standards, the front side windows of a car must have a light transmission of at least 70%, and a windshield at least 75%. In this case, toning of the front side and windshield is prohibited. This was reported on March 17 by the press service of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate.

According to the traffic police, tinting in the car reduces visibility to the driver. If the windows of the car are not tinted, the driver can see a pedestrian on the road at a distance of at least 100 meters. In turn, tinted auto glass reduces this distance to 35-70 meters.

“Will the driver be able to react quickly and avoid a collision in the event of a dangerous situation? Hardly. In bad weather conditions – snow, rain and ice, the situation becomes even worse, which means that an accident cannot be avoided, ”the traffic police said.

The department also stressed that according to the current legislation, for driving a car with tinted windows, the light transmission of which does not meet the requirements, a fine of 500 rubles is imposed.

On September 14, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate prepared a large-scale draft of changes to the traffic rules, which includes, in particular, new rules for tinting, a ban on parking on “islands of safety”, an extension of the zone of action of signs “Parking is prohibited.”
