The team of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology of Dr. Leonid Roshal was sent to Beirut to provide medical assistance. This was announced on Thursday, August 6, at the press service of the Moscow Department of Health.

“The unique pediatric team of Dr. Roshal of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology of the Moscow Department of Healthcare has been sent to Beirut to provide specialized medical care to children and adults who were seriously injured by a powerful explosion in the port. The team was headed by the director of the Moscow Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, surgeon Valery Mitish. It included six more doctors of the institute: resuscitators, traumatologists, pediatric surgeons, neurosurgeons, ”the message says.

Medics arrived in the city on board the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Earlier on the same day, the fourth flight with specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry flew to Beirut to provide assistance to the victims of the explosion.

In total, five flights with equipment for the deployment of an airmobile hospital are to arrive in the city. Also, more than 150 Russian specialists will fly to Beirut to assist in the elimination of the consequences of the emergency.

The explosion in the area of ​​the seaport of Beirut occurred on 4 August. 137 people died, about 5 thousand were injured. The facades of several buildings located in the immediate vicinity of the site of the emergency collapsed, houses and offices were damaged. As a result of the incident, about 300 thousand people were left homeless.
