On Thursday, October 1, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, Pavel Zavalny, called the announcement that the Danish Energy Agency had issued Nord Stream 2 AG permission to operate Nord Stream 2 (SP-2) on the country’s continental shelf as a positive step.
According to him, this testifies to the fact that European countries are working in the legal field and comply with the legislation that is in force: both national and European.
According to him, all the obstacles to the construction of Nord Stream 2 are of a political nature. At the same time, the deputy noted that this project only contributes to increasing energy security in Europe.
“Since the European Union needs this gas pipeline and Russian gas, I am just sure that it will be completed and put into operation,” the RT parliamentarian was quoted as saying.
Earlier on the same day, it was reported that the Danish Energy Agency had issued Nord Stream 2 AG permission to operate the Nord Stream 2, NSN reports.
The gas pipeline is being built from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Currently, about 160 km of pipes remain to be laid. However, due to US sanctions, construction has been temporarily suspended. In the EU and the United States, there are currently calls from the United States to abandon the project because of the incident with blogger Alexei Navalny.
