The Russian concern “RTI” plans to localize the production of equipment for 5G networks in the Russian Federation, said the general director of the concern, Pavel Laptaev.

“We are creating the production of equipment for the 5G network (base stations, antennas, transmitting modems) for Russian telecom operators. These will be domestic systems using foreign components that are not being developed in Russia. But we will achieve localization of 70-75%, we will completely make cases, power supplies, cooling systems, ”Laptaev told TASS on August 29.

Currently, RTI manufactures equipment for fourth-generation networks.

At the same time, according to Laptaev, the 5G network in Russia is just beginning to appear, and therefore telecom operators are actively negotiating with suppliers of such equipment.

In mid-August, a pilot 5G zone was launched in the Sevkabel Port urban space in St. Petersburg for testing by gamers.

At the end of July, the head of the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov, in a conversation with Izvestia, suggested that private customers of mobile operators will be able to use the services of 5G networks in Russia no earlier than 2022–2023.
