The restorer Victor Zhivan, who participated in the restoration of the Hermitage and the Summer Garden, died in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the Union of Restorers of St. Petersburg in the social network “VKontakte”.

“On January 18, 2021, at the age of 62, Zyvan Viktor Ivanovich, an honored St. Petersburg restorer, director of KAST LLC, passed away,” it was reported.

The cause of death is not named.

Victor Zhivan was born in 1959 in the Zhitomir region of the Ukrainian SSR. Subsequently he moved to Leningrad, where from 1988 to 1993. worked in workshop No. 1 of PSO “Restorator”. Later he organized a private company, which was engaged in the complex restoration of monuments and cultural heritage sites.

According to the union, the restorer participated in the comprehensive reconstruction of the Peter and Paul Fortress, the cast-iron fence of the Hermitage staircase, the fence of the Russian Museum were restored, the gates of the Summer Garden were recreated.

In addition, Viktor Zyvan supervised the restoration of the interiors of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, the facade of the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof. Took part in the recreation and restoration of the decor of the House of Scientists named after Maxim Gorky, theater named after VF Komissarzhevskaya and other architectural monuments.
