The Norilsk prosecutor and representatives of Rosprirodnadzor went to the scene of the incident in the tundra in Taimyr, where eyewitnesses noticed the discharge of wastewater from the Oktyabrsky mine of Norilsk Nickel.
The Krasnoyarsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office noted that they are checking eyewitness reports, and an assessment will be given of how Norilsk Nickel observes the laws on environmental protection and industrial safety.
In turn, the press service of the Norilsk Nickel Polar Division reported that eyewitnesses filmed the registered issue No. 170, through which the mine waters of the Oktyabrsky mine are discharged after settling in storage tanks. They stressed that all the permits for the discharge are available. Industrial environmental control is carried out in full, and its results are sent to government agencies.
