According to the latest report by the Anti-Defamation League, propaganda for “white supremacy” in the United States last year reached its highest level in a decade. The report lists 5,125 cases of malicious verbal and print attacks against non-whites, blacks, Jews, Muslims, or self-identified LGBTQs.
In 2019, there were 2,724 such incidents. In these materials, the phrases “Black Crimes Matter” and “White Lives Matter” are in fact “appeals of the Suprematists, covered by patriotic rhetoric”. And the facts of propaganda on the Internet, most likely, number in the millions, the report emphasizes.
Christian Pizzolini, a former right-wing extremist and founder of the Free Radicals Project, which aims to “de-radicalize” American society, says that “the coronavirus pandemic, job loss, election disputes, protests against police killing black Americans and adopting nationwide The scale of the reassessment of the country’s racist past has created a favorable situation for extremists who “use the insecurity and fear of the crisis in society to recruit new members under the slogan“ us or them ”.
The Anti-Defamation League monitors propaganda actions and materials from 30 extremist organizations, but the report emphasizes that 92% of all actions are carried out by three of them – the New Jersey European Heritage Association, the Patriotic Front and the National Social Club.
