The number of HIV infections in Vologda decreased by 24%

In Vologda, 48 cases of HIV infection were detected in the first six months. For comparison: last year this figure was 15 less. In the region as a whole, the incidence rate decreased by 16%. In the first six months, 185 people were infected, of which 72 were residents of Cherepovets.

In 58% of cases, the infection was transmitted sexually, in the rest – through the use of drugs. The age of 43% of cases is from 31 to 39 years old, 33% – from 18 to 30 years old, and 24% of those infected are people over 40. More than 139 thousand people passed the HIV test.

This year, 63 HIV-infected patients have died in the region, of which 17 are residents of Vologda.

We add that in general in the region 4,665 people have tested positive for HIV infection.
