In August, Russians prefer to rest in the cities of the Krasnodar Territory – Sochi, Anapa and Gelendzhik are among the five leaders. This is evidenced by the calculations of analysts of the service “Yandex.Travels”, which were at the disposal of “Izvestia” on August 5.

To compile the rating, experts calculated the transitions from the Yandex.Travel service to the sites of Russian aggregator partners. In this case, the transitions that were the result of the hotel search for August were taken into account.

Thus, Sochi and Anapa took the first and second positions in the ranking, Yalta was on the third line. The top 5 is closed by another city of the Kuban, Gelendzhik, and Alushta. Also popular among Russian tourists in August are Moscow and St. Petersburg, the sanatoriums of Kislovodsk and Belokurikha, the Crimean resorts of Sevastopol, Feodosia, Evpatoria, Alupka, the cities of Yeisk and Sudak.

In addition, analysts noted that, in general, interest in tourism in Russia is gradually recovering. If in May the share of tourist requests among all requests of Russians was almost half less than a year earlier, in June it was already by a third, in July – by about a quarter.

The recovery of interest in travel is also indicated by the data from Yandex.Market. For example, demand for water sports equipment in July was more than double that of a year ago; demand for inflatable rings and mattresses – more than three times. The interest in goods for hiking and outdoor recreation, which subsided in April, in June was almost equal to last year’s level, and in July was 9% higher than a year ago.

Experts associate these tendencies with deferred demand: all those preparing for travel in April-June this time had to postpone preparations, because it was unclear when and where they would be able to go. In addition, Yandex.Travels suggested that during the period of self-isolation, people are accustomed to shopping online and are now more inclined to order on the Internet what they would have gone to the store for.

In July it became known that 83% of the country’s residents are planning to spend their holidays in Russia this year.
