The Indonesian authorities deported a Russian citizen who served time for drug possession and is wanted at home for smuggling, as well as trafficking in illegal substances. Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, informs about this.
As specified, today, accompanied by employees of the NCB of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Andrei Kovalenko was brought to Moscow, who was charged with committing crimes under Articles 30, 228.1 and 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in 2019 in Indonesia, Kovalenko received a sentence for possession of drugs. On February 11, 2021, he managed to escape while being transferred to a migration detention center; on February 23, he was detained again.
