The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia is not yet considering the issue of labeling strong alcohol in Russia. On January 10, the head of the department Denis Manturov said this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The minister recalled that currently nine commodity groups are subject to mandatory labeling: fur products, tobacco, footwear, clothing, perfumery, medicines, tires, photographic equipment and dairy products.
He also said that experiments are already underway to label drinking water and wheelchairs. Based on their results, the government will decide on the introduction of mandatory labeling. The plans include an experiment in relation to brewing products and low-alcohol products, added Manturov.
“Based on the results of the experiment, it is planned to additionally include bicycles and bicycle frames in the list of goods subject to mandatory labeling. In the first quarter of 2021, we will submit to the government a draft resolution on conducting an experiment on the labeling of biologically active food additives. The issue of conducting an experiment on labeling medical devices is also being worked out, ”he said.
In Russia, from January 1, the labeling of alcoholic beverages with the help of federal special stamps is introduced. The use of excise stamps is discontinued. Only Rosalkogolregulirovanie will issue special stamps and control their use. The customs authorities will control the labeling of imported alcohol during the declaration.
At the end of December, the Russian government decided to conduct an experiment on the labeling of nicotine-containing products. According to the decree, the experiment will take place from January 11, 2021 to February 28, 2022.
