Several representatives of the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Health will travel to St. Petersburg due to the rise in new cases of coronavirus in the city. This was announced on Sunday, November 8, in the press service of the department.

It is noted that, on behalf of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, the deputy head of the department Igor Kagramanyan and the assistant to the minister Oksana Guseva will arrive in St. Petersburg on November 8.

There they will provide the authorities with organizational and methodological support, Gazeta.ru reports.

Earlier, on November 5, the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said that the work of food courts in the northern capital, with the exception of those located at gas stations, railway stations and at the airport, will be suspended from November 9 to 29 due to the worsening epidemiological situation.

According to the headquarters, 70,023 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in St. Petersburg, while 42,789 patients recovered, and another 4,162 2-15 died.

The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, began at the end of December last year. The Chinese city of Wuhan became the hotbed of infection. For several months, the disease has spread to more than 210 countries of the world. On March 11, WHO declared a coronavirus pandemic.

According to the latest data, 1,774,334 cases of coronavirus were detected in Russia in 85 regions. Over the entire period, 30,537 deaths were recorded, 1,324,419 people recovered.
