The law on remote work may take into account allowances for work in the North

The payment of northern allowances, amounting to 100% of the salary, can be extended to remote employees. This issue is now being discussed by a working group, preparing a bill on distance employment for the second reading in the State Duma. The deputies will have to decide how to issue additional payments: at the location of the company or at the address where the remote employee works.

“Now the issue has not been settled in any way either in the draft law or in the current legislation, and there is no decision on it yet. We have to figure out how to determine who to pay extra: at the location of the company or at the place where a remote employee works. For example, if a company is in Norilsk, and a remote employee is in Sochi, is he entitled to a “northern” surcharge? And if the opposite? ” – explained a member of the working group, vice-president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Fyodor Prokopov.

The allowances are distinguished depending on the territory – they are calculated according to the regional coefficient. For example, for work in the Sverdlovsk region, an increase of 15-20% of the salary is put (depending on the region), and in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug – 50%. In general, additional payments range from 15% to 100% of earnings.
