The participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the climate summit organized by the US President was not a step towards specifically the American side, but demonstrated Moscow’s interest in collectively solving climate problems. This was announced on April 25 by the assistant to the Russian leader Yuri Ushakov.

“Their (climatic problems – ed.) Can only be resolved together, so we definitely take part in such events, in all,” he said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.

The International Online Climate Change Summit was held from 22 to 23 April. 40 world leaders were invited to the event. On the first day of the summit, Putin said during his speech that Russia is interested in intensifying international efforts in the field of climate.

US President Joe Biden said that the appeals of the Russian leader inspired Washington, the American side is determined to work with Moscow in this direction. He thanked all the world leaders who have joined the summit.

On April 24, the White House released a release summarizing the results of the climate summit with the participation of leaders from about 40 countries, which was initiated by Biden. A general statement by the participants following the summit was not adopted.
