12 smart pedestrian crossings are planned to be installed in Vologda this year. The complexes will appear mainly near schools and kindergartens – in places where children cross the road. This decision was made at the City Council held in the regional capital on April 6. At the same time, funds necessary for the work were allocated in the amount of 16.5 million rubles.
Now the deputies are discussing the details of the projects with local residents. Residents of Vologda support the installation of smart crossings, as they reduce the accident rate of sections. In addition to roads near educational institutions, the complex will be assembled near the Lokomotiv stadium, where there is also a large flow of pedestrians.
The city authorities plan to start competitive procedures in May after the funds have been raised. The installation is planned to be completed by the beginning of the academic year.
