Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel that he considers it unacceptable to hold an illegal mass action on 23 January.

“Attempts of mass involvement of minors in this situation look unacceptable and cynical,” the capital’s mayor noted and asked parents to pay attention to this and not put their children at risk.

Sobyanin recalled the importance of observing the restrictions imposed in the city in connection with the coronavirus in order to preserve the health and life of Muscovites.

“I must warn that law enforcement agencies will ensure the necessary order in the city,” the mayor said, asking citizens not to participate in the unauthorized action.

The Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov, in turn, during the broadcast of the Russia 24 TV channel, also noted that law enforcement agencies consider the action on January 23 illegal.

“Therefore, participation in it can entail the most serious consequences,” Vorobiev warned.

He recalled that parents are fully responsible for children and asked to have a conversation with teenagers and convince them to refuse to participate in the action.

The governor stressed that everyone has the right to express their opinion, but this should be done strictly within the framework of the law.
