Possible violent actions by the opposition will provoke a response from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Yuri Karaev.

In his opinion, it is not excluded that the protesters “not all the ardor is extinguished,” he said on September 6 on the STV TV channel. “Well, let them try, the OMON is in place, the Interior Ministry is in place, we will not flinch,” he warned.

On August 20, the Investigative Committee of Belarus began checking information about the rape of women in temporary detention facilities. Then Karayev took responsibility for the injuries of random people and apologized.

Mass protests began in Belarus after the presidential elections on 9 August. According to the Central Election Commission, President Alexander Lukashenko won for the sixth time. People who disagreed with this took to the streets.

Civilians faced opposition from security officials, hundreds of people were injured, and about 7,000 people were detained in a few days.

On September 1, UN human rights experts reported 450 cases of ill-treatment and torture of protesters detained in the republic.
