In the Magadan region, December 31 has been declared a day off, said the region’s governor Sergei Nosov on December 17.

“I instructed to prepare a decree on the postponement of the day off from December 26 to 31,” he wrote on Instagram.

The governor noted that a survey had been conducted earlier, in which more than 10 thousand Kolyma residents took part.

72.3% supported the initiative to make the last day of the outgoing year non-working in order to devote more time to families, Nosov specified.

“The establishments that were opened in the spring continue to work. Because the economy of small and medium-sized businesses, the preservation of jobs and the well-being of people are fundamentally important, ”Nosov said.

The only restriction applies to catering establishments to work after 22: 00⁣⁣, the closure of catering establishments on New Year’s holidays is not planned, he stressed. ⠀

According to the website stopkoronavirus.rf, over the past day, another 44 residents of the Magadan region have been diagnosed with coronavirus. A total of 6438 cases have been identified since the beginning of the epidemic, 5906 patients have recovered, 58 people have died.

Earlier, on December 14, the governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Yuri Bezdudny, joined the regions of Russia, which declared December 31 a day off.

On the same day, the Governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexander Gusev, announced the same decision for civil servants.

Earlier, more than 20 Russian regions announced the transfer of the working day from December 31 to December 26. Among them are the Penza and Arkhangelsk regions, Sevastopol, the Chuvash Republic and Tuva.
