In Moscow, on New Year’s Eve, temperatures of zero degrees and small precipitation of different phases are expected. This was announced on Sunday, December 27, by the leading employee of the Phobos weather center Yevgeny Tishkovets.
“This is not bad – at zero, precipitation will always freeze. In the vicinity of Moscow – from minus two to plus three. The farther west – there is a probability of up to plus one, the east – there is a probability of weak minuses. Small precipitation is also expected in the mixed phase: it will be wet snow rather than rain, “Tishkovets told RIA Novosti.
As the forecaster noted, in the next day the capital will be under the influence of an anticyclone, and in the next 7-10 days an unstable temperature saw will come to Moscow. Due to the anticyclone, the night from December 27 to 28 will be the coldest this month, the temperature will reach minus 12-15 degrees, and in the Moscow region – in some places up to minus 19 degrees, no precipitation.
Such cold weather will continue until the second half of Tuesday, December 29, by the evening a blizzard and snow will begin due to the approaching warm front. The snowdrifts will grow by 6-8 millimeters and reach 15-20 centimeters.
The snow cover will begin to melt in Moscow starting from December 30. It will be cloudy on this day and light mixed-phase precipitation is expected. By December 31, the drifts will be at the level of 10-12 centimeters.
The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand told what the weather will be on New Year’s Eve in the European part of Russia. According to the forecaster, the temperature will exceed the climatic norm by 7-8 degrees. Wind speed of 10-11 m / s and slight precipitation are expected.
