In the Samara region, farmers harvested the first million tons of grain. This was reported by the press service of the regional agriculture ministry.
According to the operational report, all municipal districts of the region have joined the harvesting campaign. 1.6 thousand grain harvesting machines are involved in the work every day.
On the territory of vegetable-growing enterprises, potatoes are being dug and vegetables are being harvested, writes NIA Samara.
Simultaneously with the harvest, the farms prepare the soil and store fodder. Also, a seed fund is being formed for sowing winter crops in 2021.
In mid-June, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said that the grain harvest in Russia this year could reach 122.5 million tons, including wheat – up to 75 million tons.
On May 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that this year the country has good prospects for the grain harvest, the state is fully self-sufficient in basic food. He noted that the grain harvest in Russia has exceeded 100 million tons for six years in a row, and also added that the country is consistently developing global markets and is among the leading exporters of food products in a number of positions.
