According to Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, the Armenian authorities should officially notify Moscow that Syrian militants are fighting on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, then Russia can announce the start of a counter-terrorist operation in this region.

Earlier, the head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan noted that Syrian militants are participating in the Karabakh conflict from Azerbaijan, therefore Russia has a legitimate right to conduct a military operation in Karabakh.

“It is necessary to assess the reliability of this information, the danger and risks that arise in this regard. Naturally, Yerevan should send us an official appeal, and not just a conclusion that Russia has grounds,” the senator explained, quoted by RIA Novosti.

Kosachev added that it is premature to make any predictions at the moment.
