The state of the ex-minister of the “Open Government” Mikhail Abyzov, who contracted coronavirus, is satisfactory, the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow reported on April 28.
The disease is mild, Abyzov is under the supervision of doctors, the press service said, stressing that the medical support of the ex-minister meets the requirements of the law.
The UFSIN also denied media reports that the employees of SIZO-1 brought Abyzov, who was allegedly in serious condition, to the court session on a stretcher.
“This information is not true. The employees of the remand prison did not use physical force or special means against Abyzov. He was not taken to the court session on a stretcher, ”writes TASS on Wednesday, April 28.
On March 17, the Moscow City Court extended the arrest period for Mikhail Abyzov, who is accused of corruption crimes, until June 25.
According to the investigation, in the period from April 2011 to November 2014, Abyzov, being the beneficial owner of several offshore commercial organizations, together with his acquaintances – Maxim Rusakov and Nikolai Stepanov – created and headed a criminal community.
The ex-minister and his accomplices stole money in the amount of 4 billion rubles from the Siberian Energy Company JSC (Sibeko) and the RES. Then they took them out of Russia, placing them on accounts in Cyprus.
The accounts of Abyzov and his ex-wife Ekaterina Sirotenko are under arrest. In the fall of 2020, the court exacted 32.5 billion rubles from him as illegally earned while working as a minister – a record amount in the Russian legal system.
