The eldest son of the victim in an accident with the participation of actor Mikhail Efremov, Vitaly Zakharov, filed a claim against the artist for compensation for moral damage in the amount of 6.5 million rubles. This was reported on August 11 by TASS with reference to a copy of the statement of claim.

“I ask you to recognize Mikhail Olegovich Efremov as a civil defendant and to recover from him 6 million 500 thousand rubles in case of a verdict against him in compensation for my moral damage,” the document says.

Lawyer Sergei Avertsev, representing Vitaly’s interests, confirmed the fact of filing a claim.

Three more relatives of Zakharov – a widow, brother and youngest son – were recognized as victims in the case.

The accident occurred on Smolenskaya Square in the center of the capital on June 8. Efremov’s car drove into the oncoming lane and rammed a Lada van head-on. The driver of the domestic car, courier Sergei Zakharov, died in the hospital. A criminal case has been initiated against Efremov. He was placed under house arrest until August 9, then the measure of restraint was extended until January 22, 2021.

Consideration of the case on the merits began on 5 August.

During the first session, the prosecutor read out the indictment. After listening to him, Efremov did not admit his guilt, citing the fact that he did not remember the events of that evening. The traffic police officers questioned in court confirmed that at the time of the accident the artist was in a state of strong alcoholic intoxication. Efremov himself also does not remember whether he underwent a medical examination after the accident.

The next meeting in the Presnensky District Court of Moscow will take place on August 11, the actor can testify in the case of a fatal road accident.
