A minibus driver who collided with a truck on the Tavrida highway in Crimea could fall asleep while driving. This was reported at the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region on Friday, July 31.
According to preliminary data, in the area of ​​the Rusakovka village, the driver of the Mercedes Sprinter car, preliminary, fell asleep at the wheel, made a collision with the truck in front, Interfax-Yug reported.
Also, according to the source, the driver was sober, but did not observe the work and rest regime.
The accident happened on the Tavrida section from Belogorsk to Simferopol. A Mercedes sprinter minibus crashed into a standing KamAZ truck with a trailer. Information about the incident was received by emergency services at 5:15 Moscow time.
Earlier it was reported that the accident killed eight people, among them there are no children. The information was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region.
