No one in their right mind recommends washing them and so on, but if it is expensive, then it is better than walking without it, ”he said in his video message posted on YouTube.
Meanwhile, Marina Veldanova, director of the Health Development Center of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, argues that washing masks made of nonwoven material is useless, it gives a false sense of security. Gauze masks, according to her, can and should be washed, but they protect against viruses the worst of all.
Speaking about respirators as a means of personal protection, the expert recommended that people who suffer from chronic diseases of the lungs, heart, as well as some mental disorders, consult a doctor before wearing them.
“It’s hard to breathe in such respirators, especially for a long time. Therefore, for people with chronic diseases of the respiratory or cardiovascular system, as well as for people with certain mental disorders, it can be dangerous to wear such respirators – this should be discussed with a doctor, ”she said.
The wearing of masks in public places and in transport became compulsory in Moscow in May 2020. Such measures were introduced as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
