The first stage of hypertension, when blood pressure does not rise above 140/90, can be treated with non-pharmacological agents. Tatiana Romanenko, a physician-therapist of the highest category, told about this in an interview with “Moscow 24”.

According to her, we are talking about such preventive measures as weight loss, diet optimization, limiting salt intake, dosed physical activity, rest, and a reasonable daily regimen.

“All this is often enough to transfer the first stage of arterial hypertension to the zero stage, to normal numbers,” Romanenko emphasized.

The doctor added that anaerobic exercise, such as walking, is important for the prevention and control of hypertension. She recalled that this trains the heart muscle, and also helps to adjust body weight.

“An hour of walking a day is shown and useful,” noted Romanenko.

The doctor clarified that young people can afford not to be limited only to walking, but the elderly are advised to start their training program with it.

On April 1, Mikhail Poluektov, associate professor of the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosurgery at Sechenov University, said that regular lack of sleep increases the likelihood of arterial hypertension and also increases the risk of heart attack.
