The court arrested the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy Tikhonov in the fraud case

The Basmanny Court of Moscow ordered the imprisonment of Anatoly Tikhonov, deputy head of the Ministry of Energy, in a pre-trial detention center for 2 months, who is accused of embezzling more than 600 million rubles. On Wednesday, September 9, TASS reports.

“The petition of the investigation is legal, substantiated, motivated and subject to satisfaction,” says the ruling of Judge Valentina Levashova.

Earlier on the same day, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia charged Tikhonov, his adviser Roman Ryzhkov, vice-president of Lanit Vladimir Makarov and Viktor Serebryakov with major fraud (part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and asked to arrest until 8 November. The Investigative Committee emphasized that Tikhonov made attempts to hide using “various methods of conspiracy”, constantly changing cars and temporary locations in Moscow.

The arrest of the Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia on suspicion of fraud became known the day before.

According to the investigation, Tikhonov carried out the fraud when he was the director of the state enterprise Russian Energy Agency, stolen “at least 603 million rubles” allocated by the Ministry of Energy “to create an information system.”

Anatoly Tikhonov from 2014 to 2019 was the General Director of the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia. Last summer, he was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Energy.
