The court detained the accused in a series of attacks on women in the Chobotovsky forest in Moscow. This was announced on Friday, August 7, by the senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigative Committee of the Russian Investigative Committee for the capital, Yulia Ivanova.
According to her, the criminal case is being investigated on two episodes of crimes under Part 1 of Art. 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violent acts of a sexual nature.”
“Today the court granted the request of the investigation to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention against the accused,” the Moscow city news agency quoted Ivanova.
An employee of the department said that on the morning of August 5, on the territory of the Chobotovsky forest, a man attacked a girl and committed violent acts of a sexual nature against her, and after a short time another woman became his victim in the same park zone, writes Gazeta.ru.
Ivanova noted that his involvement in the incriminated crimes is confirmed by the materials of the criminal case, interrogations of the victims, identification of the attacker and confrontations. The defendant, born in 1982, is charged.
