The air temperature at the main metropolitan weather station by 6:00 dropped to minus 13.4 degrees. This was reported on Thursday, January 14, in the Moscow meteorological office.

“Last night became the coldest in Moscow since the beginning of this winter,” – said a representative of the weather bureau in an interview with “Interfax”.

He stressed that the previous temperature minimum this winter was recorded on December 10 – minus 12.6 degrees.

At the same time, the absolute temperature record for January 14 in Moscow was recorded in 1893. Then the temperature dropped to minus 37.4 degrees.

The Hydrometeorological Center reported that in the afternoon on January 14, frost is expected in the capital of 10-12 degrees, on the night of January 15 it can get colder to minus 18 degrees.

At the same time, the scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, assured that next week it will become warmer in Moscow. In particular, on Monday the daytime temperature will rise to 10-15 degrees below zero.
