The Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition is ready to present a program for overcoming the crisis in the republic in the near future. Pavel Latushko, a member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council, said this on Monday, September 21, during an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, speaking via video link from Warsaw.

“The Coordination Council will present in the near future an anti-crisis program for our country, which will be carried out simultaneously with the reform of public administration and local self-government,” he said during a video link, broadcast by Youtube – News Now channel.

Earlier, during the meeting, the former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said that the protests in the republic could last for weeks, months or even years, without weakening.

The presidential elections in Belarus were held on August 9. From that moment on, protests by the opposition, disagreeing with the results, have continued in the country. According to the Central Election Commission, Alexander Lukashenko won with 80.1% of the vote.

Tikhanovskaya refused to recognize the election results and called on the international community to support the demonstrators. The EU and the USA considered Lukashenko illegitimate. By September 24, European countries are planning to impose sanctions against Minsk.
