The Prosecutor’s Office of the Smolensk District carried out an audit of compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation on burial and funeral business in the activities of the administrations of rural settlements.
During the audit, it was found that some administrations of rural settlements of the Smolensk region do not take measures to properly comply with the legislation on organizing funeral affairs and providing services for the burial of the dead.
According to the senior assistant to the regional prosecutor for interaction with the media and the public, senior counselor of justice Alexander Borovikov, it was established that the land plots on which the cemeteries are located are not on the balance sheet of the administrations of rural settlements and are not registered as the property of the administrations.
The district prosecutor’s office sent 6 statements of claim to the court, which were considered and satisfied. Work is underway to implement them.
