The risk of a repeat of the 2018 fuel crisis looms over Russia. This is stated in the annual report of the Accounts Chamber.
According to RBC, the document says that now there are risks of a repeat increase in retail prices for fuel and, as a result, the emergence of social tension. At the same time, the Chamber named the risks of rising fuel prices as one of the “enlarged problems” of the audit in the past year. The ministry recalled that in the spring of 2018, the government took a number of measures to stabilize the situation in the domestic market, as soon as citizens began to worry about the rise in fuel prices. Then the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a damper mechanism, with its help it was possible to minimize the effect of fluctuations in world oil prices on the cost of fuel in Russia.
