Switzerland decided to take measures to increase the number of women wishing to serve in the country’s army. Previously, women in the military were not provided with specifically female underwear. All of them, regardless of gender, were entitled to men’s underwear.
But in April, the army command decided to conduct an “experiment” – instead of awkwardly sitting and often large size men’s underwear, women will receive “short” underwear for warm weather and “long” underwear for cold weather. This is one of the measures through which the Swiss army command hopes to increase the number of women serving in the country’s armed forces by the end of this decade, from 1% to 10%.
In addition, other changes were made to the military uniform, developed back in the 1980s, aimed at specifically female ergonomics. In particular, adjustable belts will be introduced.
