In the Amur Region, supervision of water bodies in the northern regions where gold miners work will be strengthened. The raids will be carried out by specialists from the regional Ministry of Natural Resources. They plan to go out with checks every month, and even more often in case of complaints from local residents.

Photometric analyzers of suspended solids and a geodetic drone are used for surveillance activities. This is necessary in order to more effectively identify the facts of violations, including sources of pollution of water bodies.

According to the governor Vasily Orlov, quoted by the Amur news service, in recent years, the supervisory authorities have more and more complaints about the miners. So, during gold mining, water bodies are polluted, which leads to the transformation of natural landscapes and reduces biodiversity.

In 2020, violations of environmental legislation were revealed in the region on 27 watercourses in Zeysky, Selemdzhinsky, Tyndinsky and Magdagachinsky districts, which are considered gold mining. The amount of damage caused to the water bodies of the Amur region exceeded 149 million rubles.
