In the Volgograd region for the period of the New Year holidays, enhanced quarantine measures for doctors will be introduced. The preparation of the regional health care system for the increased workload during this period was discussed at a meeting held by Governor Andrei Bocharov on December 21.
During the New Year holidays, a special regime will operate in the region. So, in infectious diseases hospitals, the brigades on duty will be strengthened, and primary health care facilities will switch to a special mode of work. According to the news agency NovostiVolgograda.ru, in the event of an outbreak of coronavirus or ARVI in the region, it will be possible to increase the number of infectious beds.
It is noted that special quarantine measures will affect only doctors. There are no plans to introduce additional restrictions on citizens.
To date, 8 thousand beds for patients with COVID-19 have been deployed in the Volgograd region, of which about 1 thousand are free. Hospitals and clinics are faced with the task of providing a supply of personal protective equipment for employees and all the necessary drugs.
On November 24, the head of the National Medical Chamber, Dr. Leonid Roshal, urged Russians to refrain from visiting guests during the New Year holidays due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, it is impossible to cancel the holidays, but this year they should be spent at home with the family, reducing the number of contacts, and visiting “should be limited as much as possible.”
