Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande Marlasca, former Vice President Pablo Iglesias and Civil Guard General Director Maria Gamez received letters with cartridges inside envelopes. This was announced on Thursday, April 22, by the Spanish agency EFE, citing a written complaint from the Minister of the Interior.
“You have ten days to retire. The time to laugh at us is up. National Police. Civil Guard. Time is running against you, ”the letter says.
Former Vice President of the country Pablo Iglesias in Twitter said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country received a letter in his name with threats of reprisals against Iglesias and his family members. There were four bullets in the envelope.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez condemned the threats against politicians. On my page in Twitter he said the authorities strongly condemn “the serious threats received by Marlaska, Gamez and Iglesias”.
“They are politicians and civil servants. To overcome any disagreement, you need to use words. We will oppose threat and violence with justice and democracy, ”wrote Sanchez.
As RTVE writes, this is not the first time Spanish politicians have received such threats. Last year, a video was released in which a former soldier fired a series of shots at several folding metal silhouettes that showed photographs of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and other members of the executive branch.
