In the southern states of Mexico, Tabasco and Chiapas, on the border with Guatemala, the country’s authorities plan to open 17 detention centers for migrants traveling to the United States, mostly minors. This was announced on Tuesday, April 20, by the head of the migration service of the republic, Francisco Gardugno, writes the newspaper Milenio.

According to the newspaper, they will be managed by the National System for Integrated Development of Families. If this structure gets at its disposal five more migration service centers in the states of Coahuila, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Chihuahua in the north, it will be able to simultaneously accept up to 7 thousand children along with accompanying adults.

Gardugno explained that there are currently 5,300 minor migrants registered in the country, but the problem is more serious, as each of them is accompanied by at least five adults, for a total of 24,000 people who are in an irregular situation in Mexico.

On the same day, the governor of the American state of Arizona, Doug Ducy, declared a state of emergency (state of emergency) on the border with Mexico and sent the National Guard to resolve the crisis.

As Associaed Press News clarifies, the announcement by the head of Arizona was made on the Open Day of the Customs and Border Service at a new center for migrants in the border region of Yuma. The event is aimed at concealing the real number of migrants arriving abroad.

Doug Ducy and the administration of US President Joe Biden are in conflict over migration policy, and the state governor himself views the situation as a crisis.

On April 6, it became known that according to the results of the poll, the majority of American voters blame US President Joe Biden for the migration crisis that broke out on the border with Mexico.

On February 4, US President Joe Biden, during a speech at the State Department, announced that the US was increasing the quota for admitting refugees from abroad and intends to bring it to 125 thousand people this year.
