38-year-old Russian TV presenter, journalist and politician Ksenia Sobchak posted on her Instagram an archival family photo, which is captured with her father, the former mayor of St. Petersburg Anatoly Sobchak. Xenia’s father died early – at 62 in February 2000. Today he could have turned 83 years old. The TV presenter dedicated several touching words to him.

In a black-and-white photograph, Ksenia is quite small, sitting next to her father, who is dressed in a suit and smiles with restraint. This picture was clearly taken back in the days of the USSR, sometime in the late 1980s.

“I love you. I try to live as you always taught, freely, and not looking back at the opinions of others. It’s a pity that you did not see Plato, he is very similar to you. Eternal memory,” Xenia wrote.

Recall that Sobchak was elected mayor of St. Petersburg at the first national elections for the head of the city on June 12, 1991. In 1996, he lost the city governor election to Vladimir Yakovlev. On his initiative, the historical name was returned to St. Petersburg.
