On August 11, the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Smolensk Region reported that a sentence had come into force against a resident of the Smolensk Region who was found guilty of murdering a woman.
The evidence collected by the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee was recognized by the court as sufficient to pass a sentence against the 32-year-old resident of Roslavl. He was found guilty of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).
The investigation and the court established that on December 1, 2019, the defendant was at his place of residence in an apartment in one of the houses of the city of Roslavl together with his common-law wife. In the evening, a quarrel broke out between the cohabitants on the basis of jealousy, a man, being intoxicated, took a kitchen knife and with force struck nineteen blows with a blade in the head, neck, torso and limbs of the common-law spouse. The victim with the received wounds was able to get out of the apartment to the staircase, where she died.
By a court verdict, the defendant was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony.
