Smolyan will be surprised by the exhibition of portraits collected from coins

From April 29 in Smolensk, in the Cultural and Exhibition Center named after the Tenishevs, the exhibition “The Illusion of Faces” will open. The portraits were made by the Belarusian artist Vadim Krasovsky and made of coins.

The author of portrait graphics has long been fond of numismatics. When coins had accumulated in surplus, he decided to create portraits from them.

Portraits of famous people have been collected from the coins of the times of the USSR, some of the faces depicted by the artist are still printed on the banknotes of some states. Each canvas includes from 2 to 4 thousand coins. The artist’s works are in private collections in Russia and abroad, including the USA, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, India.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, disabled people and children under seven years old can see the exhibition free of charge.
