Russia is reliably covered in the zone located from the Chukchi to the Sea of ​​Japan, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to him, S-400s are located on Sakhalin, S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile systems on the Kuril Islands, and MiG-31BM interceptor aircraft in Chukotka.
Speaking at the collegium of the military department, he noted that the air defense system of the Eastern Military District (VVO) has received further development. So, within the framework of the State Armament Program, the re-equipment of the district’s troops continues.
In 2020, they received more than 900 units of modern and modernized equipment, including Su-35S, MiG-31BM aircraft, as well as S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems and BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers. Also came radar stations, engineering equipment and communications.
According to Shoigu, in 2020, the effectiveness of operational and combat training activities has significantly increased compared to 2019. This happened due to the active introduction of the experience of modern armed conflicts.
