Scientists have found out why coronavirus infection damages only specific human organs, the results of the study were published in the journal Chaos.

Experts from the University of Zaragoza in Spain have learned that ACE2 proteins susceptible to coronavirus interact with each other in the lungs, as well as with proteins in other organs. It turned out that molecules can contact each other, moving in the cytoplasm in a special way, overcoming various obstacles.

Researchers have developed a mathematical model to trace a chain of interactions that cause changes in proteins outside the lungs that affect the vulnerability of organs to coronavirus.

According to scientists, drugs aimed at disrupting these chains will help avoid multiple organ failure from infection, which often leads to the death of patients.
